The Buddha's name was Siddartha.

부처님의 이름은 싯다르타였습니다.

About 2600 years ago, he was born as a prince in kapilavastu, Northern India.

 2600여 년 전 인도 카필라국의 왕자로 태어났습니다.

He was a thoughtful prince. 

싯다르타는 생각이 깊은 왕자였습니다.

He was curiose about many things.

 그는 너무나 많은 것이 궁금했습니다.

'Why are people born and die?'

 사람은 왜 태어나고 죽는 것일까?

'Why do  people get sick?'

 사람은 왜 병에 걸리는 것일까?

'Why do  people hate ,argue and fight with each other?'

 사람들은 왜 미워하며 다투고 전쟁을 하는 것일까?

'Why are people not satisfied and greedy?'

 사람은 왜 만족하지 못하고 욕심을 부리는 것일까?

He decided to leave home to find answers.

 그는 해답을 찾아 떠나가로 결심했습니다.

One day,  Siddartha took off his princely clothes and left his  comfortable home behind to become a monk.

 어느날, 싯다르타는 왕자의 옷을 벗고 안락한 집을 떠나 수행자가 되었습니다. 

He visited many teachers  and stayed for some time to practice with them.

그는 여러 스승을 찾아 다니고 가르침대로 수행을 하였습니다.

However, he didn't get answers to his important questoins. 

그러나 해답을 찾지 못했습니다. 

Finally, Siddharta sat and meditated under the Bodhi tree near the Himalya mountains.

 싯다르타는 히말라야 산 기슭, 보리수 나무아래 앉아서 고요한 선정에 들었습니다.

 Mara, the king of evil gods, tempted and bothered him but he resisted bravely.

 마와 파순이 그를 유혹하고 괴롭혔으나, 그는 용감하게 이겨냈습니다.

 He eventually attained enlightenment and became the Buddha.

 그리고 마침내 싯다르타는 큰 깨달음을 얻고 부처님이 되었습니다.

The word,'Buddha' means 'being a happy person attaining enlightment'. 

 '부처'라는 말은 '깨달음을 얻어서 행복해진 사람'이라는 뜻입니다.

This is why the Buddha is always smiling peacefully. 

그래서 부처님의 얼굴은 항상 평화로운 미소가 번지고 있습니다.
